Microsoft recently revealed a new flaw in the Windows 11 24H2 version, which primarily affects users who rely on official media creation tools for installing Windows 11. Specifically, when users attempt to install Windows 11 24H2 via CD, USB flash drive, or other media, they may encounter issues where the system fails to accept subsequent Windows security updates. This problem not only affects system security but also hampers the user experience.
After thorough investigation, Microsoft found that the issue is triggered only when the installation media includes security updates from October 2024 (update number KB5044284) or November 2024 (update number KB5046617). Devices that normally install these security updates through Windows Update or the Microsoft Update Catalog website do not experience this issue.
To help users avoid this problem, Microsoft has urgently provided the following recommendation: When installing Windows 11 24H2 via USB or other media, avoid including the security updates from these two months. Fortunately, starting from the December 10, 2024, security updates, users are no longer affected by this issue.
At the same time, Microsoft also stated that the company is fully investigating the root cause of this problem and will release relevant information and updates to affected users as soon as a solution is found.
