人工智能助长网络钓鱼,企业如何反击?

As AI technology advances, the methods of phishing scams have become increasingly sophisticated and concealed. These scams typically use emails or social media messages to impersonate trusted sources, attempting to extract sensitive data from unsuspecting victims. With the help of AI robots and personalized information, scammers are making these schemes more difficult to identify, leading to a sharp rise in cybercrime trends.

Scammers are utilizing AI technology to continuously gather information about companies or individuals on social media. These programs can collect a vast amount of data on someone's social media habits, interest topics, and associated information. With such specific details, cybercriminals can easily create effective large-scale phishing campaigns, mimicking the tone and style of a real individual. Notably, phishing scams targeting corporate executives have also significantly increased. "This situation is becoming increasingly severe and highly personalized, and we suspect that AI is driving it," Kirsty Kelly, Chief Information Security Officer at UK insurer Beazley, said in an interview with the Financial Times. "We are starting to see carefully planned attacks that can gather a lot of information about someone."

Although cybercriminals are adept at using phishing tactics to steal information, businesses can also use AI to counter these cybercriminals. Developers are working on creating equally intelligent AI robots to help detect AI-generated content and codes, and intercept them before attacks occur. According to a PYMNTS survey, over half of companies are already using some form of AI to combat cybercrime, with many respondents expecting AI to be fully applied to combating cybercrime within the next seven years.

In addition to technical measures, employee training is crucial. Teaching employees at all levels how to identify phishing emails and stay informed about the latest scam methods can help companies avoid paying substantial fines and avoid embarrassing public announcements of network attacks, such as the attack Stop & Shop faced in November 2024.
