A recent photo of a Tesla Cybertruck in motion on a Dutch highway has sparked online buzz. The electric pickup, adorned with Albanian plates, was shared by Tesla's Chief Cybertruck Engineer, Wes Morrill, on social media. The image reveals the vehicle speeding along the highway in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Morrill, upon seeing the photo, retweeted it and commented, "Could this be the first Cybertruck registered in the EU to hit the Netherlands? Truth will unfold." When users inquired about registering a Cybertruck in Europe, Morrill humorously replied, "Make more friends," before clarifying that he had overlooked other registered Cybertrucks and confirming their presence in Europe.
Further investigation revealed that the owner of the Cybertruck is the rapper Kosso. Kosso had publicly expressed his affection for the Cybertruck and considered using plates from the Czech Republic or Albania. Belgian media Nieuwsblad also reported that the Cybertruck was spotted in Lanaken, Belgium, further verifying the owner's identity.
In fact, there were reports earlier this year about Cybertruck registrations in the EU. A French Tesla advisor disclosed that the first Cybertruck had been registered in the Czech Republic, though the registration process was not elaborated on, fueling anticipation for the vehicle in the European market.
During Tesla CEO Elon Musk's annual shareholder meeting in June, he announced plans to introduce the Cybertruck to markets beyond North America by 2025, initially limited to North America only. He hinted at the possibility of a Cybertruck version designed specifically for Europe and China. Concerns had previously been raised about whether the Cybertruck met European pedestrian safety regulations.
To showcase the global market potential of the Cybertruck, Tesla has conducted numerous巡回 shows worldwide. This year, the Cybertruck was exhibited in several Asian and European countries, including China and Japan. Tesla first announced plans to introduce the Cybertruck to the UK and parts of Europe as early as April this year. In March, Tesla also showcased the Cybertruck at its Berlin Gigafactory.
It is worth noting, however, that despite the Cybertruck's exhibitions in multiple locations globally, these vehicles appeared to be unregistered. There had been rumors that the Cybertruck was registered in Europe, but these were likely vehicles imported by buyers from North America. The discovery of the Cybertruck in the Netherlands has brought new expectations for Tesla's European market strategy.
